thanks for the journal comment, i wholly agree with you. Photoshop is used in post production for a reason. If the initial photograph isn't good quality, then editing it through Photoshop won't be much help and with the digital revolution, it is becoming more and more of an essential tool. I'm not saying there wasn't editing involved in photography before digital photography came along, but the standard was A LOT better then than it is now. Also, it used to be much more difficult to obtain high quality cameras and they used to be far more expensive, but with our consumerist society today, cheap cameras with advanced settings are widely available for everyone and anyone to use, thus amping the need for editing programs like Photoshop.

Yep, even if i wouldn't called some settings on modern cameras really "advanced"...in many ways today's cameras have useless features: 20-30 camera modes, from the "sleeping child" mode to the "beatiful flower on the grass mode", 6400 iso (on a compact with a sensor way too small -and usually are around 3-5 megapixel sized too), and plenty of other functions like "best photos"...

People should realize that the best thing to do when you shoot is thinking, not leaving any rational process to the camera.

And camera brands should be ashamed for not creating a decent photographic culture when we really need some kind of it.
